The Colonies declare war against the Narragansetts,
then with the largest task force ever assembled until this time, attack
the Narragansett fort at South Kingston, RI and slaughter most of
the women and children in the action known as the Great Swamp Massacre.
The war grinds on, and with the death of Philip, the disorganized
bands of resistors are defeated, destroying the southern New England
Indians as threats to the future well-being of the New England colonies. |
